Law360 (April 11, 2023, 7:17 PM EDT) — A Massachusetts federal judge has approved $3.5 million in fees for a group of attorneys who won a settlement for parents who sued Blue Cross Blue Shield Massachusetts for not covering certain residential mental health treatments.
In an order Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Allison D. Burroughs awarded the fees to lead counsel, plus reimbursement of $94,033.31 in class counsel’s expenses. And in a separate order, Burroughs said the amount of the settlement — which provides for the 239 families that make up the class to apply for payments of up to $89,000 each — is in the range of settlement values obtained in similar cases.
